The former Education/Advocacy committee has morphed into the Heritage Tree Program Committee. Committee members review nominations and select heritage trees. We also plan and execute Heritage Tree Dedications each year.
Past activities have included summer garden tours, parade entry with float, precision fan raking marching drill team, walking forest; gardener’s triathlon; Festival of Trees; Celebrity Gardeners’ Auction; mutilated tree protests; and the plant sale.
Possible new activities--adopt the boothing responsibilities from education/outreach committee.
The mission of the Education/Outreach Committee is to raise awareness of bad pruning and plant care, and provide professionals and amateurs with readily accessible and easily understood solutions.
Currently the Committee runs the Master Pruner Seminar series (including the Spring, Fall and Spanish-language Workshop series) and is responsible for the Sky Prune-A-Thon and most of the boothing, except at the Northwest Flower and Garden Show.
As are all the Committees, we are responsible for hosting one of the PlantAmnesty general meetings. Our month is February, when we supply the speaker, main dishes, and auction items. We can do other events as desired and energy holds out.
Digi Wranglers sought to help with PlantAmnesty's social media presence!
Are the pruning shears on your hip and a smartphone in your pocket equally important? Do you like to ping, tweet, text, pin and tumble? The Digi Wranglers need you! We are looking for a few good committee members to help with PlantAmnesty’s social media integration and support for our organization and its mission. There are tasks both large and small to be done-- you choose. There will also be food, plant talk and scuttlebutt. If you think you might be interested, email us at email@example.com
