                      Meeting of Like Minds with
       Dale Brotherton Owner of  the Takumi Company

    When: Tuesday, August 21 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.

    Where: Center for Urban Horticulture
                 3501 NE 41st St, Seattle, WA NHS Hall

  Dale Brotherton is the owner and operator of the Takumi
  Company, a design/build firm that specializes in authentic
  Traditional Japanese Architecture. Through using Post and
  Beam construction on homes, garden structures, tea houses
and gates, Dale continues to bring structures that we have grown to love throughout the Pacific Northwest.
 
This will be a perfect way to round out our July tour of Bellevue Botanical Garden, as Dale created the entrance gate of the Yao Japanese garden.

These meetings are free to PlantAmnesty members and we encourage you to bring a friend or family member to help them learn more about PlantAmnesty (and become a member too!). Food is pot luck, so bring a dish or beverage to share. If you don't have an item, you can leave a donation at the table!

Enemy at the Gates: Scouting and Preparing for

consequence 
pests and pathogens at the
University of Washington Botanic Gardens

Ryan Garrison, plant health specialist and horticulturalist from the UW Botanic Garden and Arboretum, scouts and deals with pests and pathogens that threaten the collections at these great institutions. 
Ryan has been involved with the UW Botanic Gardens since 2003, where he is working toward his master's degree, studying the invasive azalea lace bug that has greatly impacted the species that is a cornerstone of the Arboretum. Come learn how this pest, and many others are being identified and managed.

The Meeting of Like Minds are FREE special educational events for our members where we mix and mingle and listen to an outstanding horticultural presenter. If you have a friend that you think would be interested in joining PlantAmnesty, bring them with you!

They're pot luck style and we always have great food! It's been said that the food is the best in the non-profit circuit. Who knew that was even a thing?! Well, we're winning!

Planning is now underway for another installation of Tree Hugger BINGO.

Plants, BINGO, Chili, FUN!!

As many of you know, this is one of the biggest FUNdraisers we hold all year, and we need lots of extra hands to help us pull it off successfully. We need volunteers to help with decorations, set-up and take-down, serving, checking people in, running around and verifying BINGO winners, delivering prizes, etc.  If you. or anyone you know is interested in contributing chili, or volunteering to help us throw our biggest event of the year, please e-mail [email protected]
